IDR is seeking a Streaming Engineer responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of systems to deliver event live video to our global clients' viewers. We're seeking a blend of technical expertise in video encoding, networking, video cloud platforms, and associated software familiarity, along with a strong understanding of live production workflows. This individual will work under pressure with a variety of teams, including in-house marketing, event, technology teams, and vendors to align content with brand strategy and audience expectations. The Streaming Engineer will play a critical role in enhancing our clients' audience engagement and contributing to the overall success of streaming initiatives!Position Overview/Responsibilities for the Streaming Engineer:
Live Encoding and Transcoding:
Top Skills:- Configure, test, and manage live video encoders (hardware and software).
- Optimize encoding settings for various platforms, content needs, and local conditions.
- Troubleshoot encoding issues in real-time.
- Configure and monitor CDN services for efficient content delivery.
- Manage failover and redundancy.
- Monitor cloud-based streaming services for performance and reliability.
- Understand network protocols (RTMPS, HLS, DASH, etc.).
- Determine network needs.
- Troubleshoot network issues related to live video streaming.
- Optimize network configurations, as possible, for low latency and high bandwidth.
- Analyze monitoring data to identify and resolve problems.
- Communicate disruptions and recommended steps to producers.
- Monitor audience engagement, and feedback to improve future broadcasts.
- Provide real-time support for live events.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to live streaming.
- Document troubleshooting procedures and best practices.
- Determine caption and other accessibility needs.
- Plan for geo replays/simulives.
- Provide recording turnaround timeline and provide trims/edits.
- 3+ years’ experience with enterprise video platforms
- 3+ years’ experience with video encoding & streaming protocols
- Experience with software & hardwire encoders & encoding
- Experience with live production workflows with strong troubleshooting & problem-solving skills
- Experience with CDN Services / Content Delivery Network (CDN) Management, video cloud platforms & strong networking knowledge
- Prior experience with event platforms (IE: RainFocus, On24, Zoom Events, homegrown, etc.)
- Basic video editing & experience following publishing workflows using Adobe Creative Suite and/or DaVinci Resolve
- Strong knowledge of accessibility standards & solutions
- Background in enterprise/corporate media
