We are seeking Painters to become part of our team!
Your responsibilities will include:
- Remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment: Shovels or pours abrasives, such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper.
- Masks specified areas of object to protect from scraping, grinding or needle gunning.
- Operate pressure washers from 3000- 40,000 PSI water jetting equipment.
- Journeyman painters will be responsible for cleaning and preparation of surfaces including metal and fiberglass surfaces. Surfaces include parts, equipment, interiors and exteriors of ships.
- Apply paint in accordance with drawings, instructions and MIL and SSPC Standards using brushes, rollers and spray guns.
- Responsible for mixing solvent and coatings materials accurately to formula.
- Tape areas to protect from paint.
- Set up, operate, maintain and troubleshoot plural component pumps.
- Proficient in spraying with plural component paint pumps.
- Supervise, train and assign crews.
Requirements for this role include:
- Must be able to read and comprehend instructions, drawings and sketches.
- Journeyman Painter must have comprehensive understanding of ship repair terminology and ship compartment locations.
- Must be physically and medically capable of wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the job.
- At least 5 year’s of experience of marine painting/blasting interior and exterior surfaces.
- Have C12 or C14 plural component certification.
- Practical knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Item 009-32.
- Able to gain access to various shipyards and military installations.
