Clinical Medical Assistant Job Type: Full-time Salary: Starting; $17.00 - $18.00 per hour, paid bi-monthly Health Benefits: Available following 90-day probation; Health, Dental, and Vision Location: Burgaw, NC and Hampstead, NC Experience: Medical office: 1 year (Preferred), EHR Experience with Athena Health Company Culture: Detail-oriented, Outcome-oriented, Stable, People-oriented, Team-oriented   Job Description: Clinical Duties: Escorts patients to treatment areas and prepares them for exams/procedures. Collects and records vital signs and other pertinent patient information. Performs procedures and testing as assigned by physician (EKG, audiometers, tympanograms, eye exams, etc.). Assists physician with examinations and treatment procedures (office surgeries, pelvic exams, etc.). Administers medications and injections. Assesses patient social needs and barriers to receiving medical care. Performs and maintains all appropriate paperwork related to patient care. Provides patient education and reviews instructions as assigned by physician. Identifies and updates patient’s care team information routinely. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality. Attends clinical huddle with physician. Telephone and Communication Duties: Receives and returns patient calls that are clinical in nature. Discusses patient problems with physician and follows up with patient. Determines if patients with urgent care needs to be seen same-day. Schedules same-day appointments and registers patients. Calls new and refill prescriptions to pharmacies. Schedules referrals and tests procedures at other sites. Calls insurance companies for pre-authorizations. Calls and documents patient instructions from the physician. Documents all communications and related information in patients’ charts. Organization and Maintenance: Cleans and maintains patient treatment rooms and other assigned areas. Disposes of contaminated disposables properly. Cleans surgical instruments following manufacturer’s and OSHA regulations. Maintains drug cabinets and disposes of out-of-date medications properly. Maintains adequate medical and referral/insurance form supplies. Adheres to all clinical safety and health policies and procedures. Professional Responsibilities: Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information and records. Maintains all appropriate state licensures and dues. Maintains HIPAA and OSHA requirements. Interacts with others in a considerate, helpful, dependable, and courteous manner. Presents self positively and professionally in appearance and actions. Maintains cooperative working relationships with other office areas and staff. Responds positively to criticism and suggestions. Initiates and participates in quality improvement areas. Additional Responsibilities: Requirements: Performs all other tasks as assigned by the physician or office coordinator. Travel between offices frequently. Administrative duties: Scheduling, Insurance verification, Answering phones Clinical duties: Performing injections, EKGs, Administering medications, Performing lab draws Must be dependable and able to work Monday through Friday (8 am to 5 pm).
