IDR is seeking a
HIM Document Tech I to assist with a backlog of documents in EPIC and OnBase for one of our top healthcare clients onsite in [Location]. This is a contract position with training provided. This is a remote position that is expected to work MST hours
Position Overview/Responsibilities for the HIM Document Tech I:- Perform activities related to the analysis and management of incoming digital clinical documentation to maintain the integrity of the legal electronic health record (EHR) and ensure accurate, timely processing for patient care.
- Perform functions related to electronic document imaging processes according to established policies and procedures.
- Analyze and determine the classification of documents in the correct document type categories.
- Determine appropriate workflow process using established clinical protocol or route documents according to the type (e.g., health maintenance, summary of care, bulk records, workers comp, new patient, referral, etc.).
- Monitor and manage work queues for inbound digital faxes in OnBase, Solarity, and Epic systems and team in-baskets in Epic.
- Perform quality control to ensure electronic documents/images post to the correct patient’s visit. Identify and correct/resolves errors identified by the quality control process.
- Ensure documents are indexed to the appropriate patient chart and document category, and verify patient identification on each document.
- Escalate unresolved issues according to procedure.
- Meet department productivity standards and department goals.
- Ensure compliance with patient confidentiality guidelines/requirements.
- Demonstrate knowledge of electronic health information systems and other related ambulatory clinic information systems (as needed).
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skills for the HIM Document Tech I:- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, internet, and email.
- Medical terminology and medical records experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications for the HIM Document Tech I:- Associate or bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
- Experience in Health Information Management (HIM).
- RHIT, RHIA, CMA, or any related healthcare certification.
- Experience with Epic, OnBase, and other related health information systems.
